Volunteering
Volunteering at our homes is an experience of a lifetime.
Mi Casa Foundation offers both long-term (one year) as well as short-term (one week) volunteering opportunities. You can read about both of these below.

For those that have served, their lives have been forever changed. The love and goodness of the children and the elderly touches your heart in a special way. You will receive much more than you can ever give to the residents. There are many ways to help at our homes. With hundreds of children and dozens of elderly, the opportunities to serve are countless.
Long-term Program
Our long-term opportunities are for a minimum commitment of one year. Following are just some of the ways that you can serve:
- Caregiver for elderly – providing care to elderly and chronically ill patients.
- Caregiver for infants – caring for infants.
- House parent – “Parenting” children by teaching hygiene, coordinating activities, supervising chores, helping with homework, and more.
- Maintenance Person – providing maintenance at the home, including carpentry, painting, electrical and handyman tasks.
Requirements for Long-Term Volunteers
Volunteer opportunities are offered in many of our homes. If you are interested in either the long-term volunteer opportunities and would like more information, call us or fill out a request for information by completing and submitting this form: Volunteer Request for More Information.
Short-term Opportunities
Every year, we also offer one-week service trips to complete special projects for our homes. These trips leave from San Antonio, Texas in the months of June and November. A typical group size for the trip is 15 to 25 participants. You can read more about this year’s trips and register for one by downloading the Flyer for 2010 Service Trips to Mexico (pdf).
